From your home base or another Cape Verde island, fly into Césaria Evora Airport (VXE) on the island of São Vicente (São Pedro); the island of Santo Antão has no airport.  

Flights can be booked via TAP Air Portugal, TUI fly, Cabo Verde Airlines, Transavia and Luxair (in the winter season), among others.  Your travel agent can of course give you personalised advice.  

The airport fee can now also be paid online up to 5 days before arrival. This speeds up the immigration procedure; use this link https://www.ease.gov.cv   For most European travellers, no visa is required for stays of less than 30 days.  

The taxi ride from the airport to the city of Mindelo takes about fifteen minutes and costs approximately 1200 CVE (11 euros). Upon arrival at the airport, you can choose to spend one or more nights in the city of Mindelo. Feel free to contact us for some nice accommodation options in Mindelo.

From São Vicente (Mindelo) to Santo Antão (Porto Novo), you will travel by ferry; the journey takes about 50 minutes. Depending on your arrival time at the airport, you can purchase a morning or afternoon crossing with CV Interilhas or Armas. Ask your taxi driver to take you to the terminal on time and purchase your tickets there or book them in advance online via, for example, https://www.cvinterilhas.cv/home.

A single crossing costs approximately 1470 CVE (13€) per person. If you rent a car from Mindelo, you can also board this ferry with the car; check the website for current prices.

If you purchase your ticket on-site at the terminal, be sure to arrive at least 1 hour in advance and don't forget to tak your ID card.

Upon arrival in Porto Novo, there are 3 options to reach Boutique Hotel Luz da Lua:

1. Take a 'collectivo' (Toyota HiACE); you will travel with other tourists and locals to Ponta Do Sol. A 'collectivo' makes stops at various locations along the way. When leaving the terminal in Porto Novo, you will find several drivers offering their services on the steps. Ask the driver of your choice if he can drop you off at Boutique Hotel Luz da Lua in Ponta Do Sol. The drivers will secure your luggage on the roof and take you from Porto Novo to Ponta Do Sol. The journey takes at least 1 hour. You will pay approximately 500 CVE (4.5 euros) per person for this ride.
    
2. We can also arrange for a 'collectivo' to pick you up with a name card. Please note that this 'collectivo' is not private. Price: depending on the driver.

3. We are happy to welcome you personally in Porto Novo with our own Luz da Lua jeep. You can choose between two routes:

4. Coastal route (fastest option)

   • Travel time: ± 45 minutes

   • Price: 5,000 CVE (€45) per jeep (up to 4 people with luggage)

5. Old mountain route (scenic route)

   • Travel time: ± 2 hours, with regular photo stops

   • Price: 6,000 CVE (€54) per jeep (up to 4 people with luggage)
     
     During your reservation, you can select this option in advance so everything is arranged smoothly upon arrival.

During your reservation, you can choose one of the last two options.
